About

I am Anne, a Dutch sailor who has been living on board full time since 2020.

Life afloat suits a preference for simple living and time spent outdoors. Most days are shaped around the boat, the weather, and the sea. It is a life I enjoy deeply, and love to share with others.

By nature, I am calm, easy-going person, with a positive outlook on life. I tend to approach things in a thoughtful and analytical way, and like to take time to understand how things work to do jobs properly. Refitting, maintaining and sailing my own 28-foot steel boat ‘Ataraxía’ has been a large part of that, and has given me a solid, practical understanding of boats and their systems.

I am drawn to older boats and like finding simple and robust solutions. I use modern technology pragmatically, but my approach will never be considered ‘high-tech’. 

Before sailing full time, I worked as a philosophy teacher. Teaching and learning still play a role in how I work with others. I am generally patient with people, and steady in more difficult situations.
